Alicia Maureen Jukniewicz, 53, of Perth Amboy, NJ, passed away peacefully on December 6, 2024 at Merwick Care & Rehabilitation Center in Plainsboro, NJ.
Alicia was born on April 25, 1971 at Rahway General Hospital in Rahway, NJ, the daughter of Edwin and Betty (Palmer) Jukniewicz, and grew up in Iselin, NJ. After her parents separated during her childhood, Alicia remained with her father and siblings in Iselin, while her mother moved to South Plainfield, NJ and eventually to Moorhead, MN.
Shortly after finishing elementary school at Kennedy Park School #24 in Iselin, she moved to Devon, PA where she attended and graduated high school at the Devereux Academy in 1989. After moving back to Iselin, she briefly attended Middlesex County College in Edison, NJ.
In the 1990s, Alicia moved to the Harbortown apartment complex in Perth Amboy, NJ where she spent much of her adult life making a few close friends. In 2019 Alicia experienced a fall after which she moved into a single floor apartment in Plainsboro, NJ. Diagnosed with complicated illnesses and declining mobility, Alicia moved to the Merwick Care facility in Plainsboro, NJ in 2020.
A mostly quiet and private person, Alicia enjoyed spending time with close friends and family as well as collecting and watching old movies. Alicia enjoyed celebrity gossip and reading tabloid style magazines as well as entering contests and sweepstakes having won small prizes but never the grand prize. She loved chocolate, ice cream and Peanuts (Snoopy).
Alicia will be remembered for her thoughtfulness, generosity and kind heart. She will be forever missed by her family and friends.
Alicia is survived by her two brothers, Edwin A. Jukniewicz of Hackettstown, NJ and Bryan T. Jukniewicz of Toms River, sister Andrea M. (Thomas, children Julia and Charles) Corrado of Sellersville, PA; stepmother Vincenza Jukniewicz of Woodbridge, NJ, stepbrother Basilio (Catherine) Maravegias of Linden, stepsisters Frederika (Todd) Valian of Washington, NJ and Marina (Edward) O’Brien of Colonia; significant other, Bill Crane of Perth Amboy, NJ.
Alicia was preceded in death by her brother, Adam Jukniewicz (April 2015); father Edwin Jukniewicz (August 2024). Her mother, Betty Ann Palmer Jukniewicz passed shortly after (March 2025).
